Book Donations Sought for Buddy Book Bins Project
“A child’s ability to read has a direct impact on how they perform in school and in life,” share the members of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council (WLC). “By providing books and reading opportunities earlier in life, we can start children in a positive direction. The ability to read is a gift that every child deserves.”
The WLC is currently seeking donations of new or lightly used, clean, appropriate books for its Buddy Book Bin project. Books can range from board books for infants and toddlers through children’s early-reading chapter books. Books can be dropped off at United Way of Otter Tail County.
The Buddy Book Bins program is the newest project implemented by the WLC. The Buddy Book Bins are crates placed at businesses and other popular locations throughout Otter Tail County. They are supplied with new and lightly used books for children birth to age 8. Children can borrow the books as they wait, or take them home if it becomes a beloved favorite. There is no cost for the children to participate in this project or for the crate sites to host a Buddy Book Bin crate.
