2024 Community Investment Application

What is Community Investment?

United Way raised funds on behalf of local non-profit organizations so that giving is simplified for people.  Dollars raised during United Way's campaigns are kept local to help those in our community (Otter Tail & Wadena Counties) in need.  Donors can give one gift and have its impact multiplied by the number of organizations helped.  Funds are given out from the funds raised from the past campaign.  The process is called "post-campaign Community Investment".  In this system, we are only giving away money that has already been raised.  United Way's goal is to give away as much of the funds raised as possible to programs in the community.

How do we choose our Partner Programs?

Community members are asked to participate because the community raises the money so United Way feels the community should have a say in where the money is distributed.  A well-rounded panel of community members is asked to participate and donate their community expertise to the process.  If you're interested in participating in our Community Investment Panel, please contact Meghana Anderson, Executive Assistant at United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties at 218-736-5147.
